This important conference will focus on fostering effective collaboration among families, schools, therapists and physicians. Participants will be able to implement strategies to address barriers to collaboration and acquire increased knowledge of local resources.
This program is designed for professionals in education, mental health, and medicine seeking to improve their ability to support the mental health of children and adolescents through collaboration with other professions and with families.

- Use specific techniques to turn win-lose or lose-lose negotiations into a win-win solution and influence positive outcomes when in disagreement
- Recognize when and how to use key meeting facilitation strategies to reach consensus (rather than compromise or "settling") in a collaborative approach
- Describe 7 steps to resolving conflicts
Morning Panel
- Identify when opportunities for collaboration exist and determine which strategies will be effective in a particular situation
- Analyze barriers to collaboration and generate strategies for overcoming those barriers
- Evaluate the effectiveness of collaborative efforts in a specific situation
Afternoon breakouts
- Identify resources in their discipline to meet collaboration needs
- Describe strategies for overcoming barriers to collaboration in their discipline
- Describe systems levels strategies to reduce access barriers for professionals in other disciplines collaborating with their discipline
Afternoon Session
- Describe the most common evidence-based medications used in treating childhood psychiatric disorders
- Recognize the most common side effects of psychotropic medications used in childhood
- Utilize the most common screening instruments used for assessing disorders in childhood
